Fireside Chat from the Lay Leader
Today (March 3rd) we held a meeting after church the district board. Sue Has the meeting minutes if interested. We discussed the finances of the church, various ministries with in the church and who was doing what, the 75th anniversary plans, pastoral plans ect…
In our next congregational meeting, we will bring all this forward
Our next district meeting will be on April 14
There will be a Mens retreat upcoming soon and I would encourage you menfolk to consider attending this. The Mt. Lake A.O.G. is taking a group there and they have invited us to go along with them but the clock is ticking on this one. Info for this can be found at:
http://www.mnaog.org/Ministries/MensMinistries.aspx and Contact Pastor David Savage of Mountain Lake AoG to get signed up. The phone number to call is:
Local Leadership Board Meeting Dates
These are the dates for our board meetings for Greg, Sue and Farley. We will be meeting with Jim Filbeck, David Savage, and Jeff Culver (Pastor at the Sherburne). All times will be 3:30 pm unless otherwise specified:
My suggestion is Greg, Sue and Farley meet with the church members after service on these days so we can maybe bring our ideas and our thoughts and needs and concerns to them. Just bear in mind that they are on our side and have our backs and aren’t here to be a hindrance.
I approved the proof for the information going into the Cottonwood County Visitors Guide. It looks pretty good. So when this publication becomes available I encourage you all to pick up a free copy and check it out.
Share and Care Helping Hand
I had a conversation with Sue concerning the “Share and Care Center” we have in the back of the church. This is a program that gives away clothing and other miscellaneous items to those in need. We desperately need volunteers to help run it..I volunteered to cover Monday and Thursday nights, but we need volunteers for other times also.
If you have some free time and would like to help out contact Sue D. for information. This is an excellent outreach program for the local community, but I would hate to have to see it close down due to lack of volunteers.
I would like to get some sort of volunteer schedule then we can advertise on KDOM swap line and the channel 3 scrolling message board on TV for free. I will check out if the “Citizen” will run some sort of ad for free in the church news section of the paper. I believe all these would be a good way to bring awareness of our Church out to the public and not cost us a dime other than some good old-fashioned Christian ethics on our part.
75th Anniversary Plans
I brought the idea of the plans to the district board. They suggested we trim it down to just one day, so I will make the appropriate changes to the plan and at our next congregational meeting we can talk about it and finalize our plans.
We have set a date of Saturday July 13th, So mark your calendars
Mike Bogle volunteered to be the historian for this event and to do some research on the Church and to do the presentation at the celebration. I’m sure if any of you long time members can help with any info, he would appreciate it.
As most of you have seen, we video tape all the Sunday Services and they can be reviewed on our website at www.assemblyofgodwindom.com . If you see a skip in the weekly sequence, that means there was some sort of error in the recording. Currently also I’m experimenting with doing a live stream of our worship services. This means that a homebound person due to whatever reason can witness our services in real time from their home or wherever via their computers (and internet,) Most likely they will be viewable on my channel in YOU-TUBE. (The channel name is Voice in the Wilderness Bible Church on you tube
I’ll have more info on this when I get it all figured out and decided if we want to actually do this.
Need a ride?
This winter, with all the snow and the extremes of cold temperatures has been rough on us all and our cars. If any member finds themselves unable to attend any of the church functions, I encourage you to give me a call at 507-822-3294 and we can make arrangements to get you here.
Hospitality Ministry News
Joe and others have been doing an excellent job in the hospitality ministry. I want to take it a step further though. I’m going to create a follow-up procedure for when someone new visits the church in hopes this will encourage them to become a permanent member.
Also on that note, if you know anyone outside our congregation that may be considering attending our Church, I’ll be more than happy to put them on our monthly newsletter list. I just need a name and address to send it to. This may help you and reinforce your daily evangelism efforts in your daily walk.
